This plugin allows you to display the most recent posts with an excerpt in a WordPress sidebar widget area.

You can set the widget title, the number of posts, the length of the excerpt and select a category to display the recent posts from or choose to display the recent posts with a certain tag.
The Recent CPT Widget Thumbnails plugin allows you to display a list of the most recent posts, cpt from all or a specific category or tag. It not only shows the post title, but also an excerpt of the post & thumbnail.
